Brewers Grain Supplemented Criollo Beef
Our "Grass/Mash" Criollo Beef is back on the menu in 2021! Thanks to Wren House Brewing Company, who purchased the PBC facility in Prescott, we once again have Spent Brewer's Mash!
Brewer's Grains (mash) are spent barley & hops from the brewing of beer. They are a great source of protein, TDN, vitamins & minerals and cattle metabolize them like forage. Brewers grains do not have the negative effect on rumen health that uncooked grains have. The BHD Ranch uses spent all natural, brewer's grains from Wren House Brewing Company to supplement the pasture diet of SOME of our Corriente cattle. This enables us to have cattle available to harvest even in the winter, when the grasses are dry. These cattle live in large pastures with access to feed troughs containing the brewer's mash. These cattle are also certified no antibiotics, no added hormones, no animal by-products. The meat from these animals is almost nutritionally identical to our 100% grass fed beef, with a milder flavor!
